Who should do this course?

The PADI (Junior) Open Water Divers that are over 12 years old are ready to take the next step and register into the Advanced Open Water Diver course. The young divers can only participate in some adventure diving session. Ask your PADI instructor.

If you are Adventure Diver, you only need to complete two of adventure diving sessions in order to obtain the Advanced Open Water Diver certification.

You will plan the learning program with your instructor choosing from a large list of adventure diving sessions. There are two mandatory sessions – depth and underwater navigation- and you will choose the other three in order to do a total of 5 diving sessions.

During the Deep diving session, you will learn to plan your diving session in order to deal with physiological aspects and the challenges of diving so deeply. The adventure underwater navigation session refines your navigation skills with a compass and will help you to navigate better using flutter cycles,  visual references and time.

Other knowledge and skills that you will obtain could vary from your interest and adventure you may have –photography, buoyancy control, fish identification,  wreckage discovery, night diving and many more.

Apart from using the basic diving equipment, you will also need a compass and a diving knife or diving tool. You will also use specific equipment depending on the adventure diving session you choose.  For example, you will obviously need a dry suit for the adventure diving session with dry suit or a Sidemount configuration during adventure diving session with Sidemount.  Your PADI instructor will explain the equipment you will need and any other that you may require, like the diving lantern when you dive at night or a lifting bag for the diving of search and recovering.
