Most of the best diving sessions of the world are only accessible by boat. Whether you have never done a diving session from a boat or have done many of them, the PADI Boar Diver Specialty will benefit you because each boat is different anywhere in the world. Diving from a boat is fun and relatively easy as you go down straight to the diving spot.
If you are PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver and are at least 10 years old, you can enroll in the Boat Diver course.
The PADI Boar Diver course will increase your knowledge about boats, from inflatable ones up to large cruises. You will gain diving experience when you complete two diving sessions from a boat in your local area and will learn:
- Nautical terminology
- Procedures and behaviors about diving from a boat, including how to get in and out of it and how to put your equipment on.
- Sail safely, including how to locate your safety equipment.
- Get credit! The first diving session of this PADI Specialty Diver course can be used as credit for an adventure diving session for your Advanced Open Water Diver certification – ask your instructor how to get credit.
Apart from using the basic diving equipment, you will find useful to have device to signage the surface, like an inflatable signage tube. We also recommend to have a replacement kit. Your PADI instructor and the staff at the dive center can suggest any additional equipment depending of the boat you will be using and where you will be going.
You can start Reading the PADI Boat Diver guide and watching the video about Diving from a boat in order to prepare for the meeting with your instructor to plan the diving sessions from a boat. Stop at your PADI Dive Center to enroll in the course and pick up the Boat Diver Crew-Pak and start learning.
