Divers describe PADI Rescue Diver as the most challenging course, although it is the most rewarding one. Why? Because you learn how to avoid and handle any problem that may come up underwater and you become a diver with more confident in your skills and knowing you may help others if they require. During the course, you will learn how to become a better colleague while practicing techniques about solving issues until this becomes your second nature. The course is also entertaining – but serious- although it allows many laughs focused on the learning.
The Junior PADI Advanced Open Water Divers that are over 12 years old and have completed the Adventure diving of underwater navigation course, are able to register for the Rescue Diver course. You also need to have the special training for the Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care and requires to be not older of 24 months. You could complete this training during the Rescue Diver. At the same time, your instructor you can also offer the specialty diving course PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider.
The PADI Rescue Diver prepares you to be able to deal with diving emergency, adults and childrens, using various techniques. Through development of knowledge and rescue exercise that you put into practice, learn what to look for and how to respond. During the rescue drill, you put into practice you acquired knowledge and skills. The topics include:
Recognize and handle distress from other divers
Handling emergency and team
Rescue divers in panic
Rescue unconscious divers
You can obtain academical credits for the Rescue Diver course – ask your instructor.
You will use the basic diving equipment and you will need a pocket mask to practice resuscitation underwate. During these exercises, you will work with an oxigen unit, floats, buoy markers and maybe RCP manikin. Your PADI instructor will explain the equipment that you need and may suggest additional equipment, like your own first aid kit, which it will be very useful through your diving career.

Register online in the Rescue Diver –the PADI eLearning option – to start. You will make progress through five sessions of knowledge development using an online system that allows you to learn at your own pace through an interactive program and easy to use. You will also have access to the online version of the Rescue Diver guide so you can access it during and after the course.

Visit your PADI Dive Center and register for the course, pick up the material and start learning. Your PADI instructor will meet up with you in order to plan the review session as well as the exercise and rescue drills.
