Video is the best way to share images, sounds, movements and dynamism of the underwater world. If you want to get the best shots and also learn to edit your dive stories to share with your friends through ScubaEarth® and other social networks, then the PADI Underwater Videographer Specialty course is perfect for you. Learn to create underwater videos that are interesting, entertaining and worth seeing again and again.

If you are a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver who is at least 10 years old, you can participate in the PADI Underwater Videographer Specialty course.

Your PADI Instructor will explain how to select, maintain and care for your underwater video equipment, whether it is a waterproof enclosure or external lights, or your underwater camera that also records video. You will learn the fundamental concepts such as exposure, focus and sequence. After the dive, you will learn about the editing process and how to produce a video that really captures your diving adventures.

Get credits! The first dive of this PADI Specialty Diver course can serve as a credit of an Adventure Immersion for your Advanced Open Water Diver certification – ask your instructor about getting credit.

Of course you will use an underwater video camera and you will need your basic diving equipment. To edit your video, you will need access to video editing equipment, which usually includes a computer with editing software. Ask your PADI Instructor or local dive center staff about what additional equipment you may need to get a high quality underwater video by diving in the local area.

Digital Underwater Photographer Online – PADI eLearning option – deals with the basics of recording underwater images, with the third section dedicated to video. Although the first two sections are devoted to photography, this web-based educational program guides you through the principles of recording great images underwater, including video. Studying online independently, you will be prepared to take the two specialty courses – Underwater Video and Digital Underwater Photographer.
